The “President’s Salute” to Theodore Roosevelt – York, PA (1906)

On October 4, 1906, cannons were fired in York, Pa for the “President’s Salute”.

An Internet search reveals that President Theodore Roosevelt visited the city of York as a stop on his trip to Harrisburg to dedicate the new State Capitol Building in 1906.

In York, Teddy met with local dignitaries and and toured the buildings of the York Fair

This postcard photograph must have been made in celebration of that occasion.

The noted photography studio of Shadle & Busser took the photograph and may have printed the postcards.

The postcard was not mailed although a message is scrawled across the margin of the face and on the reverse.
