Miss Frances Kaniper lived in Phillipsburg, a town on the Delaware River in northwest New Jersey.
Phillipsburg was an important railroad connection for coal trains of the Lehigh Railroad crossing into New Jersey, and later, for the Pennsylvania Railroad connectors to the Pocono Mountains and to Trenton, NJ.

In October of a year near 1910, Frances received a postcard from her friend, Minnie.
Minnie mailed the postcard from Bolton, a town in northeast Ontario, about 32 miles northwest of Toronto.
Bolton grew up around a flour mill on the Humber River and remains a “rural service center” for this agricultural region.

The face of the postcard is a hand-colored photograph of the Humber River near Bolton.
The Humber River, fed by 750 streams and creeks of the Great lakes Basin, is one of two rivers that border the city of Toronto.
The Humber empties into Lake Ontario.
The postcard was published by “Stedman Brothers Limited” of Brantford and Winnipeg, Canada.
The scenic view was “Made in Germany”.

On the reverse, Minnie acknowledges receipt of a card from Frances.
Minnie asks if Frances is “getting ready for Thanksgiving”.
The message concludes with Minnie’s expression of Love.

Unfortunately, the postcard yields few clues about the relationship between the Frances and Minnie.
It is not clear if Minnie lives in Ontario or is visiting the province.
In any event, one hopes that both enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving and that they maintained a postcard correspondence for many years.
