Mr. Frank Stafford lived in Goshen, a village in southern New York State -about fifty miles northwest of New York city in Orange County.
(During the American Revolution, Goshen was the scene of attacks by bands of Loyalists and Mohawk tribesman).

In December of 1921, Frank received a Christmas postcard from his sister, Rose.
Rose mailed the postcard from Carmel, a town in southern Putnam County, about 50 miles east of Goshen.

The face of the postcard bears a medallion illustration of a village scene in winter. In the foreground, a large bluebird bears a sprig of holly.
The legend above the medallion is, “A Joyous Christmas”.
Beneath the bluebird, a couplet is inscribed:
“May the Bluebird come your way,
To bear Happiness this Christmas Day”.
Neither the artist nor the publisher is identified on the postcard.
On the reverse, Rose wishes her brother a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
One hopes the Frank and Rose enjoyed the Feast of Christmas and found pleasure and success in 1922.
