A Spiffy Roadster on Marietta Avenue – Lancaster, PA (circa 1915)

Here is an hand-colored, postcard photograph of Marietta Avenue, still a lovely drive westward from the city of Lancaster.

The postcard was postmarked in Lancaster on September 26, 1917, but it could have been printed a few years earlier.

“Barbara” posted the card to Miss Catherine Ford of Glen Moore, PA.

Glen Moore is a borough in Chester County, not far from Morgantown, PA.

Barbara asked, “whose automobile is this?” and added, “Be a good girl”.

Roadsters, the sports cars of the early automobile age, were prized for their good looks and road-worthiness.

We hope that Miss Catherine did enjoy ownership of an automobile and that she and Barbara found happiness in the Autumn of 1917.
