During the quarantine, when I could not rifle through boxes of old paper at antique malls, I purchased a collection of vintage postcard photographs on E-bay.
Included in the lot was this souvenir from Atlantic City.
The unknown woman was one of thousands who descended on the resort towns of New Jersey each summer day in the early 20th century.
From postcard evidence alone, we know that residents throughout the Mid-Atlantic states embarked on vacations of days or weeks at the beach.
Many celebrated their vacations by having photographs made at Boardwalk studios.
This postcard photograph was made at the Dittrich studio.
Unfortunately, the postcard lacks a date and an identification of the vacationer.
I was taken by the substantial summer hat that our friend was wearing during the summer months.
