An Easter Prize for Benjamin – 1910

We met the schoolboy, Benjamin Stauffer, in earlier postcard stories.

Benjamin attended school somewhere near Millersville, PA where his family lived on a large farm.

Miss Minnie Lintner, the teacher, presented colorful postcards to students who earned “Headmarks” for achievement in her classroom.

Benjamin appears to have been a very good student as we have acquired numerous examples of the postcard awards presented to him by Miss Lintner.

On February 28, 1910, Benjamin was awarded a postcard in celebration of Easter.

The face of the postcard bears a charming drawing of a hen and six multi-colored chicks scratching the ground around a weathered fencepost.

The figures are lightly embossed.

A printed legend in the sky proclaims, “A Joyous Easter”

One hopes that Benjamin, Miss Lintner, and all those close to them enjoyed a joyful Easter in 1910.
