“I Saw Your Sweetheart on Sunday Night” – Ephrata, PA (1910)

Mr. Elmer Oberholtzer was working in Orrville, Ohio in the Spring of 1910.

(I have published another postcard from the Oberholtzer family collection of postcards.)

In April, Elmer received an Easter postcard from his friend, Mahlon Redcay.

Mahlon was in Ephrata, Pennsylvania – the charming town northeast of Lancaster.

We know from other postcards that Elmer lived in Ephrata, also.

The face of the postcard is a drawing of two chicks, surrounded by pussy-willows.

The gilded message proclaims, “A Merry Easter”.

On the reverse, Mahlon teases Elmer, “You ought to be in here” – referring, I believe, to Elmer’s temporary work in Ohio.

Mahlon adds, “I seen (sic) your sweet heart on Sunday”.

One hopes that Elmer’s romance was not ended by his temporary absence and that the friends enjoyed a wonderful Easter and a long correspondence.
