Morning in Pennsylvania

Morning in Pennsylvania – 1935

On a bright morning like today, this postcard seemed appropriate.

The postcard is interesting both for the pleasant view of Pennsylvania’s forest land and for the example of a very early “linen-style” postcard.

The hand-tinted photograph was mailed in March of 1935 between two PA towns, Latrobe and Blairsville.

(1935, in the middle of the Great Depression, was another difficult time for Pennsylvanians.)

Bessie mailed the postcard when she walked to town with Ann. Ann supplied the postcard.

(Bill was reading a book; he had a “man up a tree”.)

Bessie’s grammar and spelling could be improved, but her regard for the recipient, Kenney, seems genuine.
