On the Porch -circa 1910

We cannot know what event was celebrated by this photograph, but it appears to be a family gathering on the porch.

It may have been Sunday dinner; the men are wearing dress shirts and one of the women has a fancy bow in her hair.

There is an older couple, four young adults, one woman (in the blouse and skirt) of indeterminate age, and one boy.

Recent meetings of most families are mediated by Zoom or some remote distancing stricture.

And, if we were meeting in person, few homes are built today with large encircling porches.

Printed as a postcard, the photograph was not mailed.

There is no inscription of date, location, or names.

There is no studio mark.
