In August of 1908, Sgt. Frank Seeberger was stationed at Sea Girt.
Sea Girt is a community on the Atlantic Coast in east-central New Jersey.
The State of New Jersey maintained a National Guard Training Center at Sea Girt since the 1880’s.

(Because the postcard is addressed with the Sergeant’s company and regiment, I am confident that he was undergoing summer training.
Also, I have postcards addressed to another place that I believe is Mr. Seeburger’s home.)
The postcard was mailed from New York City, but the sender is not identified.
The face of the postcard is a striking bit of postcard art, a painting of a carriage being greeted by a hunter and hounds.
The carriage appears to have been traveling at some speed, and now appears to be stopping.
The forward horses are the rearing up as if to slow the carriage.
The hunter, in pinks, has lifted his hat in salute to the ladies and the other members of the party.
This is another example of the fine work produced by the German American Novelty Art Company – an international firm that specialized in high quality German printing for the American market.
The postcard was printed in Germany, probably circa 1906.
Earlier, I alluded to other postcards sent to Mr. Seeburger.
I did not seek out postcards related to him, but many examples of very good postcard art were mailed to him and I noted his name as I scanned a handful of very good art postcards.
Perhaps Sgt. Seeburger was part of a well-educated or an art-loving set of friends.
One hopes that Frank was successful in the training course and that he enjoyed the remainder of the Summer of 1908.
