This humorous postcard was copyrighted in 1905 by the prolific Philadelphia publisher, J. Murray Jordan.
We have seen other postcard stories related to postcards from this publisher.
Alas, this postcard was not mailed, so there is no personal information connected to it.
The condition of the postcard suggests that it was preserved by some collector who appreciated the humorous scene.
The postcard may have been saved because it was considered too suggestive for potential recipients – although many postcards with subjects more risqué were sent through the mail.
Here, a young man, wearing a nightshirt, is sitting upright in bed.
The young man is watching intently as the attractive nurse adjusts her stockings.
The implication is that the young man has been ill and required the attention of a nurse.
The caption reads, “Able to sit up and take notice”.
Clearly, our young hero seems to have made substantial steps to full recovery.
