“Best Easter Wishes” from Aunt Margaret – Finderne, New Jersey (1912)

Miss Margaret Bernhardt lived in Finderne, a populated place in central New Jersey.

(In 1927, the post office in Finderne was closed.)

In April of 1912, Margaret received an Easter postcard from her aunt also named Margaret.

It is possible that the niece was named for the aunt.

Aunt Margaret lived in Poughkeepsie, the city on the Hudson River, midway between New York City and Albany.

The face of the postcard shows a gold cross within a gothic window frame.

Around the frame are several symbols of Easter – lilies, doves, and bells.

Also in a gilt frame is the legend, “Best Easter Wishes”.

The postcard was printed and published in the United States.

On the reverse, Aunt Margaret expresses wishes for good health and asks her niece to “write soon”.

One hopes that both ”Margarets” enjoyed a blessed Easter.
