Nathan Groff lived in Bareville, a small rural community northeast of Lancaster, PA.
In December of 1909, Nathan received a postcard greeting from Lottie, in Lancaster.
Lottie thanked Nathan for two cards that she had received from him, and writes, “I imagine you are taking advantage of the good sleighing”.
Lest Nathan thinks she might be envious of his winter adventures, Lottie adds, “we are having it fine in Lanc., better than in the country”.
The postcard, published by the English firm of Raphael Tuck & Sons, was printed in Saxony.
On the face, a warmly-dressed party goes for a ride in a spiffy roadster.
It appears to be nighttime as the headlights are burning.
Sprigs of holly decorate the legend, “A Happy New Year”.
One hopes that Lottie, Nathan, and all the folks enjoying sleighing parties, had a happy 1910.
