Market Street in Elizabethtown

Market Street in Elizabethtown – 1907

On January 8, 1907, Ed sent a postcard to Miss Annie L. Landis at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lancaster.

The postcard was mailed from Elizabethtown, and features an uncolored photograph of South Market Street.

The photograph was made and printed by G. N. Falkenstein, past President of Elizabethtown College and an amazing cleric and entrepreneur.

(I devoted an earlier postcard story to this remarkable man and his photographic hobby).

On the face of the postcard, Ed asks Annie to “pardon me for not writing” and explains that he is “to (sic) busy just now”.

Ed promises to “write later”.

The absence of any mention of Annie’s health suggests that Miss Landis might have been employed at St. Joseph’s.
